Starting January 1, 2024, we’re pleased to introduce GreenShield as our new prescription drug claims administrator.

It’s the beginning of our journey towards ensuring: 1. Your eligible claims are reimbursed quickly and efficiently; 2. You spend as little time as possible out-of-pocket; and 3. When you have a question, you get the answer. |
At WEBC, we take a member-first approach and provide you with benefit coverage and services to fit your needs. It’s why we’re moving our prescription drug administration from Canada Life to GreenShield on January 1, 2024.
With GreenShield as our new prescription drug administrator, you’ll have a new card and the same coverage you enjoy today. You’ll also get reimbursed for your prescription drug expenses in a way that’s most convenient for you:
- By providing your drug card to your pharmacy (or prescription drug provider) for immediate, on-the-spot reimbursement; or
- By submitting a claim online (through the GreenShield website or mobile app), or by mail and, starting in 2024, in person at WEBC.
What’s not changing?
While we’ll have a new administrator for prescription drugs starting in 2024, two things will stay the same:
- Your current plan coverage: The plan coverage (e.g., annual/lifetime maximums) will remain – so you’ll continue to enjoy the same coverage as you do now.
- Reimbursement of extended health care and dental care expenses: You can continue to submit health care and dental care expenses to WEBC for reimbursement in the same way you do today – your health and dental care claims administration is not changing.
What you can expect…
By mid-December 2023
You’ll receive a package from GreenShield. Inside it, you’ll find:
- Your new WEBC-GreenShield prescription drug card (your dependents will be listed on the back); and
- Your GreenShield ID (listed on the front of your card).
If you do not receive a package by the end of December, please send an email to info@webc.ca.
Starting January 1, 2024
You’ll present your new drug card, or provide your GreenShield ID, to your pharmacy or prescription drug provider.
Also beginning January 1, 2024, you’ll contact GreenShield at (604) 689-7184 (Option #2) to speak directly with a GreenShield agent, Monday through Friday (4:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. PST), when you have questions about:
- Your prescription drug coverage;
- How to submit a prescription drug claim for reimbursement (after January 1, 2024); and
- Your claim status (for expenses and claims incurred on or after January 1, 2024).
What you need to do…
Claims on or before December 31, 2023, must be submitted differently than claims on or after January 1, 2024. Read more about the change in process at Where do I submit my claim?
