January 1, 2024 Pharmacy Benefit Changes

WEBC has partnered with GreenShield.

Effective January 1, 2024, GreenShield is the prescription drug claims administrator for WEBC Plan Members.

If you have not received your Welcome package from GreenShield, or if you see an error in the information listed on your card, please email info@webc.ca or give us a call at (604) 689-7184.

As a Plan Member your Welcome package includes:

  • Your new WEBC-GreenShield card (dependents listed on the back); and
  • Your GreenShield ID.

If your package hasn’t arrived, you can still access the Plan while you wait.

Tell your pharmacist or prescription drug provider you have coverage with GreenShield and provide them with your personal identification and your GreenShield ID number. This number starts with WTR (HINT: it’s short for “water”), and is followed by your Waterfront Employee number (i.e., your Man number).

What about Dental, Vision and other Extended Health Claims

This is just our first step! Dental and other extended health benefits on the way but they are not changing just yet. For now, continue to submit health care and dental care expenses to WEBC for reimbursement in the same way you do today.

Pharmacy Claims on or after January 1, 2024

Present your new drug card, or provide your GreenShield ID, to your pharmacy or prescription drug provider.

For questions on claims on or after January 1, 2024, contact GreenShield at (604) 689-7184 (Option #2) to speak directly with an agent, Monday through Friday (4:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. PST). GreenShield can help with questions about:

  • Your prescription drug coverage;
  • How to submit a prescription drug claim for reimbursement; and
  • Your claim status.

Pharmacy Claims up to December 31, 2023

Reminder: Claims on or before December 31, 2023, must be received by the prior carrier, Canada Life, by February 29, 2024.

Why are we introducing GreenShield?

This is just the beginning of our journey to improve services for Plan Members. Moving to GreenShield as our prescription drug claims administrator is our first step to offering you more benefit services, your way. In future we will add dental claiming and the remaining extended health and vision services to the WEBC-GreenShield card.

GreenShield Online Services

We encourage all Plan Members to sign-up for online services with GreenShield.

These new tools will allow you to submit pharmacy claims, check drug coverages, view claim status and access a digital ID card. This will also allow us to contact you directly as we expand services available through the WEBC-GreenShield card in the future.

To access online services navigate to app.greenshieldplus.ca, select ‘sign-up’ and then ‘Heath and Dental Coverage’. After that follow the prompts to verify your personal information.
